Application Guidance
With large volumes of applications for our Tactical Sales Representative roles, we not only ensure that we recruit the right people for the role but we try to ensure that the role is right for you by detailing the skills we look for. If you meet these skills and want to continue your application, we have provided some information and support below around completing an effective application form.
What skills do we look for in your application?
We look at skills as opposed to just previous roles and employment. The skills that are important in a Tactical Sales Representative role are:
- Resilience and Persistence
- Motivation and Drive
- Relationship Building and Customer Focus
- Communication Skills (written)
How do we assess these skills in our application form?
As part of the application you will be asked to complete a number of competency based questions. Your answers will enable us to assess whether or not you have the right type of skills and experience for the role, so it is important that you take time completing this section of your online form.
How to answer competency based questions
We appreciate that we are looking for certain skills from applicants, so we have listed below some tips on how you can effectively demonstrate these and promote your abilities within competency based questions:
- It may seem obvious, but that is to answer the question – you'd be surprised how many people don't. We will not assess any applications that are not fully completed.
- Each question has a word limit; please do not go over this.
- Your written communication will also be assessed to ensure that your responses are succinct and to the point, that your answers are structured in a way that is logical and easy to understand and most importantly that you avoid any spelling and grammatical errors.
- Ensure your example addresses the question and is specific so we can assess the skills and experience that you have to offer. Even if you are talking about what you did as part of a team you will still need to tell us about the role that you took and how you went about it, e.g. 'I completed the task ahead of the deadline' not 'we completed the task ahead of the deadline'.
- Answer the question using a logical and structured method e.g. the mnemonic STAR approach is a great way to keep your answer well structured for us to assess:
- S - Situation: Set the scene and tell us about the situation your example occurred in.
- T – Task: What task were you carrying out?
- A – Action: What actions did you carry out to complete the task?
- R – Result: What was the outcome of the situation?
